Metropolitan Monsters - F/W 2014
25 August, 2014
This collection was created as my Senior Thesis Portfolio at the Art Institute of Colorado. The intention was to blend unconventional silhouettes with functional daily apparel, at a price point that made it affordable for mainstream consumption. Each piece was given a hashtag-tag with a QR code that linked to a microsite explaining the process of creating the garment or showcasing a video of its inception to incorporate technology and encourage social sharing, which was quite ahead of it's time in 2013-2014! Garments were constructed once fully and each item has a full tech pack that could be sent to any manufacturer and produced on a mass scale.
original thesis statement:
Metropolitan Monsters for Fall/Winter 2014 speaks to underlying female strength, 1970's punch ideas of unconventionality, and daily wearability. Alternative street fashion meets with ready-to-wear designs to provide clothing for a progressive market of 20-30 year old women who crave unique style as well as practicality. These fashion boast the ability to layer for the variable weather of the targeted regions as well as provide animal-friendly alternatives to common fashion fabrics. This modern woman will be engaged with the brand digitally through the integration of hashtag-tags, which allow them to share their outfits and personal style across social media platforms. These women are fierce; they follow their instincts and work to get what it is they want.
